D02 – The Wellness Point of Engagement: Activity + Environment
This deep-dive presentation addresses plausible building systems and programming required for senior centers to evolve into “engagement centers for active living.” Using research based on data, critical values, and desired outcomes, presenters will discuss design team coordination required for positive health interventions and results, based on demographics, needs assessments, and intergenerational opportunities targeted. Design, architecture, and regulations in programming to enhance the well-being of targeted populations will be identified through case studies. As a result of interactive supportive activities completed with attendees, the group will discuss building space requirements including the support of a wellness factor, opportunity for intergenerational engagement, and opportunities for producing revenue related to the activity and service model.
