E01 – Person-centered Care: Translating Research into Practical Applications
Evaluating the outcomes of person-centered care (PCC) is critical to understanding the factors in the care practices and designed spaces that make the most impact . Much of this formalized evaluation comes through research. This presentation will disentangle the complexity of long-term care settings and contextualize research findings to draw out the application-based outcomes that could be useful in the planning and design of PCC environments. Specific attention will be drawn to resident choice and empowerment, leadership characteristics, operational practices, and policy. Participants will learn how they can use research findings to establish their own operational, organizational, and environmental criteria for programs or design projects.
