E43 – Skilled Nursing Design: When Design Transforms Outcomes
The new Babcock Health Care Center at Salemtowne, a Life Plan Community, provides 60 private rooms for long-term care and 40 for short-term rehabilitation. Now in its second year of operation, the center is the preferred destination for rehab care within the region. This presentation will describe the planning, design, and initial start-up of the new center, with a focus on how the building has supported the operational model. Panelists will discuss the challenges of operating rehab and long-term care within one building, special training for staff, protocols for rehabilitation services, and the impact of the Babcock Center on the Salemtowne Life Plan Community.
