K01 – Welcome + Opening Keynote

Cas Holman, author and toy company founder, will deliver this year’s welcome keynote. She is the founder of Heroes Will Rise (Hope, R.I.), an independent toy company focusing on open-ended play and creativity through innovative design, and the author of Playful: How Play Shifts Our Thinking, Inspires Connection, and Sparks Creativity. Holman will illustrate how play is a fundamental element of creativity. Drawing on examples from her own design work and decades of observing and facilitating play, she will explain how play inspires unexpected outcomes and enables new discoveries that might otherwise be unreachable or seem impossible.
