How do you create affordable assisted living to ensure a high quality, enriching community for residents using less resources than market rate senior living facilities? Learn how an architect and developer utilized post occupancy evaluations (POEs) of previously developed properties to optimize design decisions as the team expanded into a new state in need of affordable assisted living solutions. The team will share POE findings that identified the key priorities that would have the greatest impact on occupant health and wellness, resident quality of life, marketability, and long-term operating costs. The developer and architect will share their exploration into an evidence-informed design process to establish a basis of design that delivers high-quality communities at scale across the state while mitigating risks in design and construction costs. The session will explore how upfront development costs were evaluated and balanced with long-term operating costs and lasting marketability in mind. Lessons learned from expanding to new markets with different regulatory processes will be shared.
